"Tea" refers to the aromatic beverage prepared from the cured leaves by combination with hot or boiling water, and is the common name for the Camellia sinensis plant itself.
I neither drink tea nor encourage people to drink it.
Side effects of Tea:
*Drinking tea or coffee stains or discolors the dental plaque, but not the teeth itself.
*Tea is known as a "negative calories" beverage. Not only does it contain virtually no calories, it also block the absorption of certain nutrients.
*A 2005 study found that green tea reduces the level of estrogens in the body.
*If you have young kids, it is advisable for them not to drink tea. This is because tea contains caffeine that may over-stimulate. It also contains tannins that may block nutrients absorption such as protein and fats in children.
*Tea reduces the absorption of thiamine (Vitamin B).
*Kidney stones are mineral deposits made up of calcium, uric acid or the amino acid cysteine. At least 3 quarters of kidney stones are composed of calcium combined with phosphate or oxalic acid. Green tea is a concern because it is rich in oxalic acid.
*Drinking green tea may prevent allergy. But it also contains caffeine and tannin that may cause allergy.
*In a new study, Rutgers University researchers announced that drinking tea could cause chromosome damage and fetal leukemia, reported the online edition of The Washington Times.

Hello all, thank you for letting me join this group. I have the same opinion as many of you that having tea a number of times a day is very harmful for the body. Moreover, tea and coffee along with red wine are known to cause staining of the teeth that causes discoloring of your white teeth. therefore, it is better abstaining from it. However, green tea has a number of health benefits.
Comment by SKN on February 25, 2013 at 3:43pm But tea inhibits the enzyme phosphodiesterase which converts cAMP to 5'AMP.So cAMP level is increased which is good for heart and keeps us active.
Comment by Vu Le on January 30, 2013 at 12:10am Nice one.
I am totally agree with you.Tea is really very harmful for health. Those who are addicted to tea can drink green tea because it cause less effects than normal tea. So, try to avoid it as much as possible.
Tea can also effect your teeth. To keep your teeth white avoid tea and coffee. They can cause stain on your teeth.
