For example, a healthy 21 yr old male getting knee arthroscopy as outpatient (scheduled to go home same day) under GA with an LMA, uncomplicated except that when you remove the LMA you notice gastric contents in the oropharynx, and you suspect that the patient aspirated. This scenario is easy if the patient is unstable (ie: can't maintain SpO2, having SOB, etc.)- you just admit the patient. But what if the patient looks fine, and meets all discharge criteria.
