A Professional Networking Site for Doctors & Medical Students Worldwide
Good Morning Doctors,
My wife ran into a brick wall and I want to try and help her as much as possible by finding other options.
My wife is a doctor from the Republic of Georgia. She had been practicing oncology up until the time she came to the United States(She had finished her residency in 2009 and began working as a doctor almost immediately).
As she never thought of coming to America, she had never prepared for the USMLE. Her school, Tbilisi State Medical University, is Accredited by the ECFMG but did not emphasize on passing the USMLE’s like some other schools there.
Since she came here, she has been studying for the USMLE’s using Kaplan’s Videos and Books. About 1 year has passed since she began studying and she lost all hope. She took an online Kaplan test and she failed miserably.
What is your advice for an International Doctor who isn’t planning on taking the USMLE(at least at the current moment)?
I've read from Dr. Trishul Reddy's post that county hospitals that are connected with Universities hire FMG's as PA's without passing the USMLE or Finishing the PA Program?
I've also read that to get into a PA Program, my wife must have a BS/MS from a US school?
Nursing also isn't out of the question!
Best regards,
Eric
