But there are ways to make the home more conducive to better eating. Planning meals in advance can go a long way, but it is also important to plan how the foods you buy go into your kitchen.

Making good food easier to see and access and making unhealthy foods harder is the trick to a healthier eating environment. Here's how you can rearrange your kitchen to encourage healthy eating habits.

Clear your counters
Easily visible food provides a constant reminder of its availability, and is likely to be eaten first. So make sure snack foods don't have a prominent place. The last thing you want is a clear cookie jar on the counter.

Buy a fruit bowl
It's important to make sure the visible fruits and vegetables are ones that are easy to eat and don't invite flies to sit on them. Store apples, oranges, bananas and as opposed to grapes, pineapples and mangoes.

Invest in single-serving containers
When stashing away leftovers, it is best to put them away in meal-size portions, whether for future lunches or dinners. At times, calorie-dense dinner leftovers might make for a more appealing snack than baby carrots, but you may be less likely to dig in if you know it will leave you hungry at lunch the next day. Choosing freezersafe containers will give you even more storage options.

Get see-through jars
Follow the school lunch programme recommendations, which limit calorie-dense foods like complex starches, fats and proteins but make fruits and vegetables completely available in whatever quantity people want. Some fruits and vegetables need advance prep and cutting, but once they go into the refrigerator, they should be in clear containers, to remind you of what to grab when you are hungry between meals.

Use your freezer more
If you don't have a definite plan for your leftovers, then avoid tossing them in the refrigerator. A freezer allows you to put away food for future use rather than snacking down on leftover chicken or lasagna instead of eating an apple. It also allows for better meal planning.

Put healthy eats at eye level
Depending on the type of refrigerator you have, you may benefit from some rearranging.

Some refrigerators with a freezer on the bottom have clear vegetable bins at eye level. But if you have a refrigerator where the freezer is at the top, and the vegetable bin is at your knees, then there's a good reason not to keep your veggies in the drawer. Opaque bins keep your healthiest — and more perishable — foods hidden. So if you have them, don't put fruits and veggie in the crisper, instead, put them higher up, in a visible spot.

Prepare fruits and other snacks in advance
As much as you avoid it, some snacking is bound to happen. So it is worth buying the products that are in little, single packages. It's much easier then to know exactly what you're eating."

But for the frugal, those small packages represent an extra expense, so pick up some small bags and doling out portions of snacks that are healthier, such as pretzels.

Some similar prep work can help with snacking before dinner. In addition, have on hand healthier snacks, such as yogurt and cheese, that are already parcelled out.

Add non-food accessories to your kitchen
Food prepared at home is almost inevitably healthier than takeout, so it's important that cooking at home is an enjoyable experience.

Keeping kitchen counters free of books, bags and papers so that they can be used to prepare food is a start. Some even keep a television in their cooking space, but you should ensure that it should be kept at a spot when you can't watch from the table.

Eat only in the kitchen
When people eat anywhere in the house, other activities they do while eating will often trigger a signal in the brain to start eating.

Many people eat while watching TV, or just start snacking. Confining all eating to the kitchen can put a dent in that, she said.

Get smaller plates and taller, narrower glasses
A recent research suggested how we decide what to eat and how to eat depends on the plate and portion size.

Larger plates lead to eating larger portions — people tend to finish what they put on their plate.

Dish size is a potential aid for people looking to get new dishes, or willing to replace old ones. Have smaller plates. That advice can carry over to glasses, given the number of calories some beverages contain. You'll drink less from a tall glass than a glass that is wider. It also gives the illusion of having more.
Viagra ice cream for instant erection? tag:www.doctorshangout.com,2014-06-25:2002836:Topic:1017085 2014-06-25T12:34:42.459Z DR.MOHAN SHARMA https://www.doctorshangout.com/profile/DRMOHANSHARMA
Forget the tablet as this ice cream would do the job for you - just remember to eat this behind close doors though!

Each scoop of the dessert contains 25 mg of Viagra, according to Lick Me I'm Delicious, the website that is promoting this ice cream.

"Celebrity clients were 'very happy with the end result' of this Viagra ice cream," claimed Lick Me I'm Delicious, the brainchild of food inventor Charlie Harry Francis.

However, the ice cream is not likely to hit the retail…

Forget the tablet as this ice cream would do the job for you - just remember to eat this behind close doors though!

Each scoop of the dessert contains 25 mg of Viagra, according to Lick Me I'm Delicious, the website that is promoting this ice cream.

"Celebrity clients were 'very happy with the end result' of this Viagra ice cream," claimed Lick Me I'm Delicious, the brainchild of food inventor Charlie Harry Francis.

However, the ice cream is not likely to hit the retail stores so soon, media reports said.

Coming at the backdrop of a study that found men who take Viagra are about 84 percent more likely to be diagnosed with melanoma (a deadly form of skin cancer), compared with men who do not use the drug, the "unnatural" food has shocked the health professionals.

But the consumers of the original erectile dysfunction drug remain loyal, reports added.

Since the drug (known as sildenafil citrate) was approved in 1998, Viagra has aroused the scrutiny of health care professionals and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials in the US.
Try these yoga poses for better sleep. tag:www.doctorshangout.com,2014-06-26:2002836:Topic:1017453 2014-06-26T04:07:44.961Z DR.MOHAN SHARMA https://www.doctorshangout.com/profile/DRMOHANSHARMA
If you habitually do not get a good night's sleep, chances are that you may be aging faster than you should be, in addition to not feeling well and confused thinking.

When we sleep, our body repairs on a cellular level and removes toxins. It is therefore necessary to get at least six to eight hours of sleep daily.

If you can't seem to sleep enough, yoga can help. Regular yoga practice is known to cure several ailments, including insomnia or abnormal sleeping habits. Yoga helps unwind stress at the end of the day and get better sleep at night.

A good night's sleep really is within reach and the often-recommended treatment is to establish a relaxing bedtime routine. The following yoga stretches can help you to relax and enjoy a peaceful sleep.

Forward Bend (Hastapadasana): Helps stretch the back muscles, invigorates the nervous system by increasing blood supply, and makes the spine supple.

How to practise standing forward bend:

- Stand straight with feet together and arms alongside the body.
- Balance your weight equally on both feet.
- Breathing in, extend your arms overhead.

Breathing out, bend forward and down towards the feet.

- Stay in the posture for 20-30 seconds and continue to breath deeply.
- Keep the legs and spine erect; hands rest either on the floor, beside the feet or on the legs.
- On the out breath, move the chest towards the knees; lift the hips and tailbone higher; press the heels down; let the head relax and move it gently towards the feet. Keep breathing deeply.
- Breathing in, stretch your arms forward and up, slowly come up to the standing position.
- Breathing out, bring the arms to the sides.

Cat Stretch (Marjariasana): Excellent stretch for spine flexibility. Also helps massage the digestive organs and improve digestion, thereby helping you to sleep well. Also improves blood circulation and relaxes the mind.

How to do the cat stretch:

- Come onto your fours. Form a table such that your back forms the table top and your hands and feet form the legs of the table.
- Keep your arms perpendicular to the floor, with the hands directly under the shoulders and flat on the ground; your knees are hip-width apart.
- Look straight ahead.

- As you inhale, raise your chin and tilt your head back, push your navel downwards and raise your tailbone. Compress your buttocks. Do you feel a slight tingle here?

- Hold the Cat pose and take long, deep breaths.

- Follow this by a countermovement: As you exhale, drop your chin to your chest and arch your back up as much as you can; relax the buttocks.

- Hold this pose for a few seconds before you return to the initial table-like stage.
- Continue five or six rounds before you come out of this yoga posture.

Child Pose(Shishuasana): A deeply relaxing stretch for the back which also helps calm the nervous system so that you can sleep at peace.

How to do the Child Pose:

- Sit on your heels. Keeping your hips on the heels, bend forward, and lower your forehead to the floor.
- Keep the arms alongside your body with hands on the floor, palms facing up. (If this is not comfortable, you can place one fist on top of another and rest your forehead on them.)
- Gently press your chest on the thighs.
- Hold.
- Slowly come up to sit on the heels, uncurling vertebra by vertebra and relax.

Butterfly Pose (BaddhaKonasana): This pose can help remove fatigue from long hours of standing or walking. Also a good stretch for inner thighs, groin and knees.

How to do the Butterfly Pose?

- Sit with your spine erect and legs spread straight out.
- Now bend your knees and bring your feet towards the pelvis. The soles of your feet should touch each other.
- Grab your feet tightly with your hands. You may place the hands underneath the feet for support.
- Make an effort to bring the heels as close to the genitals as possible.
- Take a deep breath in. Breathing out, press the thighs and knees downward towards the floor. Make a gentle effort to keep pressing them downward.
- Now start flapping both the legs up and down like the wings of a butterfly. Start slow and gradually increase the speed. Keep breathing normally throughout.
- Fly higher and higher, as fast as you comfortably can. Slow down and then stop. Take a deep breath in and as you exhale, bend forward, keeping the chin up and spine erect.
- Press your elbows on the thighs or on the knees, pushing the knees and thighs closer to the floor.
- Feel the stretch in the inner thighs and take long, deep breaths, relaxing the muscles more and more.
- Take a deep breath in and bring the torso up.
- As you exhale, gently release the posture. Straighten the legs out in front of you and relax.

Legs-up-the-wall Pose (ViparitaKarani): Lie down straight on your back. Now lift one leg up, followed by the next, and let your feet rest on the wall.

- Extend the arms along the sides, palms facing up.

- Now close your eyes and keep taking deep breaths as you relax into the pose. You may use an eye cushion over your eyes to block the light and completely relax. Stay in the pose for as long as you comfortably can and then slowly come out, bringing the legs down.

- An excellent pose to relieve tired legs and feet, helps increase blood supply to the brain and relieve mild headache, and calms the mind.

- Besides the above, lying down in Shavasana (Corpse Pose) and Yoga Nidra after meals helps relax the entire system.

- Sleep experts often point to the efficacy of creating a standard nighttime routine in order to signal your body that it's time to prepare for sleep. You may choose to include NadiShodhan pranayama in your ritual to relieve tension and relax into a peaceful sleep.

Other tips to help you sleep better:

- Avoid doing Bhastrika Pranayama in late evenings. They will fill you with a lot of energy and prevent you from falling asleep.

- Avoid watching a horror movie late night as the thought of it will keep lingering in your mind all through the night. It's a good idea to listen to soft instrumental music, such as that of veena, chant or listen to chants or knowledge before getting ready to sleep.

- Make your own sleep pattern. Sleeping any time during the day is not advisable. It disrupts the biological clock. Ideally, sleeping in the afternoon for about half an hour and at night for a minimum eight hours is good practice.

- Introspect on what you did during the day. Feel content, pray and go to sleep with a happy, relaxed mind. keep your bed clean before going to sleep.

- Finish your dinner maximum by 8.30 p.m. Keep a gap of at least two hours between your last meal and sleep.

- If you have had a quarrel with your partner or loved one, make sure you sort it out before you go to sleep. Carrying it on may not just give you a disturbed sleep but may also spoil the following day.

- Avoid taking stimulants at night especially if you are suffering from insomnia.

(By Art Of Living)

Read more Personal Health, Diet & Fitness stories on www.healthmeup.com
Virus that kills cancer and tumour cells. tag:www.doctorshangout.com,2014-06-26:2002836:Topic:1017353 2014-06-26T04:21:48.063Z DR.MOHAN SHARMA https://www.doctorshangout.com/profile/DRMOHANSHARMA
A virus can be used to kill triple-negative breast cancer cells and tumours grown from these cells in mice, finds a new research.

Understanding how the virus kills cancer cells may lead to new treatments for breast cancer, according to Penn State College of Medicine researchers.

Adeno-associated virus type 2 (AAV2) infects humans, but is not known to cause sickness.

"Treatment of breast cancer remains difficult because there are multiple signalling pathways that promote…

"Treatment of breast cancer remains difficult because there are multiple signalling pathways that promote tumour growth and develop resistance to treatment," said Craig Meyers, professor of microbiology and immunology at Pennsylvania State University in the US.

In prior studies, the researchers tested the virus on a variety of breast cancers that represent degrees of aggressiveness on human papillomavirus-positive cervical cancer cells.

The virus initiated apoptosis - They often struggle with guilt. One or both parents may feel as though they somehow caused the child to be disabled, whether from genetics, alcohol use, stress, or other logical or illogical reasons. This guilt can harm the parent's emotional health if it is not dealt with.

Physical Exhaustion and Stress
Physical exhaustion can take a toll on the parents of a mentally challenged child. The degree of this is usually relative to the amount of care needed. Feeding, bathing, moving, clothing and diapering an infant is much easier physically than doing the same tasks for someone who weighs 80 pounds. The child may have more physician and other health-care appointments than a typical child and may need close medical monitoring.

Financial Concerns
Raising a child with a mental challenge may be more expensive than raising a typical child. These expenses can arise from medical equipment and supplies, medical care, caregiving expenses, private education, tutoring, adaptive learning equipment or specialized transportation.

What can you advice to these parents with special cases?Post your comments please.
