Brain has thin line between love and hate, scientists reveal

There really is a thin line between love and hate - at least in the brain, scientists have shown.

A new study reveals that the brain's "love" and "hate" circuits share identical structures.

Both include regions known as the putamen and insula which are linked to aggression and distress.

Scientists find 26 genes promoting lung cancer

In the largest effort of its kind, scientists have identified 26 genes that, when damaged, appear to promote lung cancer.

It's a step toward developing new treatments that can be tailored to specific patients.

Leukaemia drug halts, reverses MS symptoms

BRITISH researchers say they have found that a drug, originally developed to treat leukaemia, can halt and even reverse the debilitating effects of multiple sclerosis (MS).

In trials, alemtuzumab reduced the number of attacks in sufferers and also helped them recover lost functions, apparently allowing damaged brain tissue to repair so that individuals were less disabled than at the start of the study.

Even mild sleep apnea increases cardiovascular risk

Here is a press release from American Thoracic Society

People with even minimally symptomatic obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) may be at increased risk for cardiovascular disease because of impaired endothelial function and increased arterial stiffness, according to a study from the Oxford Centre for Respiratory Medicine in the UK.

Shark "Virgin Birth" Confirmed

A female blacktip shark in Virginia fertilized her own egg without mating with a male shark, new DNA evidence shows.

This is the second time scientists have used DNA testing to verify shark parthenogenesis—the process that allows females of some species to produce offspring without sperm. More at National Geographic.

a) What you said makes sense... because the cardiac area is not in the same spot as the spine in this image, because of the shift... What happens is that I just got the impression it is overpenetrated (as I can easily see all the vertebrae)... heh...
Great ! I think you are right . It's a CXR of atelectesis left lung ; possibly due to Tbc.
regarding etology: possibilities are stab wound, rib fracture and medical procedures..... but i think there is a fracture in 9 th rib....of is this mark is because of overlapping of ribs. to comment on soft tissue , the soft tissue on right is n...

i could not understand few thinfs in ur explanation, would u be kind enough to clarify them........ a} if its due to tension pnuemothorax and the mediastinum is shifted to opp side then wont be the spine visible....? can u expain the x ray attach...
